Prior to the 2006/2007 season, the Swedish Hockey League tasked Mediatec with providing official statistics for all matches. The result was ISA, our in-house developed statistics system that is constantly developed to meet the needs of the league and their clients.
During every match, between 6 and 8 operators feed in data on everything from shots at goal to time on the ice for every player in the ISA system. Every incident is sent direct to Mediatec’s server where it is gathered and published. This allows TV graphic staff, commentators, Internet match reporters and even teams themselves to follow every detail of every match and identify patterns in play.
As well as Elite Series matches, ISA is used to deliver statistics for TV broadcasts of other hockey leagues and the World Championships.
Within ISA, a general data management structure called Ramses is at work – another in-house developed solution by Mediatec. Ramses allows the system to be applied to sports other than hockey. For example, a football version has been used to present graphics for the home matches of the Swedish national team.
P3 Guld (P3 Gold) is one of the biggest and the only TV and radio broadcast music gala in Sweden. Annually, Swedish Radio celebrates the year gone by and awards prizes in categories including Best Newcomer, Song of the Year, Pop Song of the Year and Rock/Metal Song of the Year.
On Tuesday the 19th of January the gala was broadcast on radio and TV for the seventh successive year. The audience at Scandinavium and home in their living rooms enjoyed events through Mediatec screens (Mitrix and Spider F30) at the front of the stage and as a backdrop.
As of today Mediatec has acquired the business of the Swiss company Avedia AG. The business will be incorporated in the newly established Mediatec Switzerland AG.
Avedia has for the past ten years been in the Swiss market as a provider of technical solutions for broadcast and events. Mediatec’s assignment to produce the Swiss football league for Teleclub will be transferred to Mediatec Switzerland giving a total expected turnover for the company of around 5 MEUR. Mediatec Switzerland has 12 employees and will be offering the full Mediatec product portfolio to its local market.
Reto Osterwalder, former CEO of Avedia AG, will be the Managing director of Mediatec Switzerland AG.
Kenneth Paterson, CEO of the Mediatec Group: “This acquisition ensures a production organization for our important clients in the Swiss market and is a base for a continuing growth of our business areas Broadcast and Solutions in an exciting market.”
During the recent Swedish EU presidency period, Mediatec Broadcast has filled the role of Host Producer, on assignment from TV4. Over the last 6 months, Mediatec Broadcast has supplied OB technology and staff for a total of 14 meetings from Malmö in the south to Umeå in the north. The scope of our involvement has included live production of events and press conferences, stand ups, play outs, ENG recordings and editing.
The project has been carried out in close cooperation with EBU and several of the world’s leading production companies and TV channels. These included the BBC for the EDD meeting at the Stockholm Convention Centre in October.
In co-operation with Electrosonic and Mediatec, DAV Partner has been trusted to supply sound and image technology and a 3D cinema to Experium in Lindvallen. This project has been characterised by high demands in respect of interior and design, specifically their ability to enrich the overall experience. Sound and light quality requirements were high while their integration, safety and placing were devised in such a way that they did not conflict with other aspects of interior design. These elements have come together and expressed themselves through the creation of fully controllable environments throughout, where demands in terms of operability and simplicity are prioritised.
